Bauxite Mine Gets 11 Month Reprieve

The time limit issued to the miner "Dovenco", to remove bauxite in Pedernales, has been extended 11 months. This was a decision the government claims is a more amenable transition to the southwest province's tourism, which is an economic fall back.

Antonio Isa Conde said that the president (Danilo Medina) is keeping his promise to the citizens of Pedernales, saying that "the government will not close one door until another is opened."
